Abstract

Corn plants are very much developed in the agro - industrial sector , because apart from being a national food barn , East Java is known as a province with a fast growing industrial sector . The potential of agricultural resources in East Java is the largest in the entire eastern region of the island of Java , East Java has the potential for development in the Gresik area , precisely in Menganti sub - district , Hulaan village . Corn production ranks third for food crop production in Indonesia , after rice and cassava . This research is a research using random sampling method which aims to determine the effect of variations in the shape of the blade and the rotation speed of the corn sheller machine on capacity . This corn sheller machine uses an electric motor as its power source . The electric motor used for shelling corn has a power of 200 watts with a maximum speed of 2800 rpm . This study uses variations in the shape of hexagon , pentagonal , and rectangular blades with uses variations in motor rotation speed of 2800 rpm , 2600 rpm , and 2400 rpm rotational speed on the shaft 741.1 rpm , 688.2 rpm , and 635.2 rpm . The results of the corn sheller machine test with three variations of blade shapes , namely from hexagon , pentagonal , and rectangular bolts with rotational speeds of 741.1 rpm , 688.2 rpm and 635.2 rpm were tested three times , based on variations in eye shape . hexagon blade is better than the variation of the shape of the pentagon and quadrangle blades , with a rotation speed of 741.1 rpm producing 70.24 kg / hour . The shape of the pentagon blade produces 65.81 kg / hour and the rectangular blade produces 61.80 kg / hour . So it can be concluded that the wider the shape of the blade and the faster the rotation , the more results are obtained .
