Abstract

Modified Unit Decommitment (MUD) method is used to solve scheduling problem of thermal generating units in the electrical system of Java-Bali, that applied the Dynamic Programming method. The load demand is served by a combination of generating units based on several constraints. At MUD it is assumed that all units operate at the beginning of the study period. As a result, the system has excess spinning reserves, so the operation system is uneconomical. Thus, some units should be considered for decommit at a certain period during the scheduling. Advantages gained a total reduction of operational costs Rp. 452.92 million with a MUD on Sunday, and produces reduction of the total operational cost Rp. 181.2 million with a MUD on Monday if as compared with Unit Commitment (UC)rn
