Abstract
Roads are one of the most important aspects in the distribution, economy and social. With a good road, it can certainly facilitate community activities and increase the value of economic turnover between one city and another. However, if the road conditions are damaged, it can hinder economic and social activities and can even cause accidents. Preliminary research assesses pavement conditions, namely by conducting a visual survey where all damages that occur are carried out by relying on the sense of sight as the main aspect. The main purpose of this study is to conduct an assessment to find out and group the damage that occurs and calculate the level of damage based on the Pavement Condition Index method. The road damage survey was carried out on the Teuku Umar – Dr Wahidin Sudirohusodo National road visually using a simple tool and divided the road into 35 segments where in one segment it has a size of 11 meters x 100 meters. From the results of calculations and analysis carried out, the types of damage that occurred were cracking (43.56%), patholes (0.02%), raveling (10.9%), patching (39.25%), polished aggregates (5.87%), Rutting (0.13%), depression (0.15%), bleeding (0.08%). From the results of the analysis, the Teuku Umar – Dr Wahidin National road section is included in the category (Very Poor).
