Abstract

Using social media as a modern political education tool is an effective action to invite young people to participate in monitoring and following developments in political issues in Indonesia. The political infographic with the object of Jokowi-JK government for the period 2017-2018 on social media Instagram is one part of the author's research to find out the understanding of the political messages contained in these graphic images and their representation in the young group ahead of the 2019 election. Political infographics on Instagram are very interesting to study. The infographics that we made as objects of research illustrate the positive and negative images of the cases that occurred in the Jokowi-JK era government posted on Instagram. The infographic post raises a different assessment from the perspective of the young group. They understand that the infographic contains a vague and visible political message that can lead to diverse opinions among them. This representation affects the electability of Jokowi as an advanced incumbent in the 2019 Presidential Election. This political infographic post can also arouse political arousal among young people so that the upcoming 2019 general election party becomes more alive and becomes a tool for young generation to determine the choice of candidates for President and Vice President best. The research data was obtained from the results of in-depth observations on the Instagram account @interpolitik. Supported literature that is relevant to the topic of research. The author processes it with qualitative descriptive analysis techniques Critical Fairclough's Discourse Analysis approach.
