Abstract
Sasi is a composition of rules that contain restrictions on the taking of certain natural resources in realizing nature conservation efforts and to maintain the quality and population of biological (animal and vegetable) resources. The arrangement of the rules contained in this sasi is also related to the regulation of relations between humans and nature and also between fellow human beings in the area where the sasi is applied. So that sasi can also be interpreted as an effort of the community in maintaining manners of life, as well as efforts in equitable distribution obtained from the results of natural resources around for all residents / local residents. Sasi at present is more likely to be interpreted as customary law rather than tradition, which means that sasi is used to make decisions on rules for taking marine products and agricultural products. So there is a need for the role of the central and regional governments to synergize with each other in safeguarding natural resources and making use of them as needed, but must be in the legal umbrella that applies in Indonesia.
