Abstract

DOC chickens or purebred chickens are warm-blooded (homeothermic) animals that must maintain a normal body temperature and are very vulnerable to the surrounding environment. maintenance of chickens in the starter phase, which is from the age of one day to the age of 14 days requires a temperature that is close to the brooder temperature. This temperature requirement can be met by using a heating device. The problem that exists today is that the heating system used by farmers is still focused on the temperature produced but has not considered the amount of fuel consumption needed to produce that temperature, so it is necessary to design a chicken heating system. This research is an experimental study to determine the effect of positioning on the heater and blower speed on the uniformity of the temperature of the chicken coop. In this study, two variables will be used, namely the placement of the heater and the speed of the blower, in which the variable speed of the blower has 3 variations, namely 6 m./s, 8 m/s and 10 m/s and 3 variables of heater placement with coordinates x, y, z in the room. The purpose of this study was to analyze the placement of the heater and the speed of the blower which obtained the most optimal uniformity through the observation of 21 thermometer points placed in the room. From the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that at positions P3 or H1 (X:53.56cm) (Y: 100cm) (Z: 125cm), H2 (X: 125cm) (Y: 100cm) (Z: 125cm) and H3 (X:196.44cm) (Y: 100cm) (Z: 125cm) at a blower speed of 10m/s produces a temperature of 32.7⁰C by producing a temperature uniformity of 32-35⁰C at each point of the thermometer by 17 of the 21 thermometer points with the highest optimization of 81% for the brooding phase. At the P3 position and the blower speed of 10m/s produces the most optimal value because the distance between the heating points is not far assisted by a high blower speed so as to produce the highest temperature and the most optimal distribution for the brooding phase of chickens.
