Abstract

Fire Extinguishers are mandatory equipment of any building placed at some point or room at risk. This extinguisher is used as first aid during a fire, while waiting for firefighters to come to help. Therefore, Fire Extinguisher must be ensured to have functioned properly. Routine checking every week is done manually, namely by looking at the pressure meter. However, checking on Fire Extinguisher type carbon dioxide or CO2 uses water media or scales because it is not equipped with a pressure meter. This makes the checking process less effective, it needs more time and effort. To overcome these problems, in this final task we propose a gas availability monitoring system in a CO2 Type Light Fire Extinguisher. This system serves to detect CO2 gas in extinguisher tubes located in several predetermined places. In its application, the system utilizes the Nodemcu ESP8266 as well as the MQ-135 sensor. The MQ-135 sensor detects CO2 gas. Then, the Nodemcu ESP8266 processes the sensor readings. If the incoming sensor reading is outside the normal range, a notification message is sent to the examiner through the telegram application. In addition, all sensor reading data is stored in local storage in the form of csv (commaseparated values). The system has been tested for effectiveness within days with various trial scenarios.
