Abstract

UD Spring Utama is a company in manufacturing per which waestablished in 1999.UD is located in the village of Lidah Kulon, Lakarsantri, SurabayCity, East Java. UD Spring Utama focuses on meeting consumer demand in making springs. With a job order system consumers can order spring orders with a variety ofsizes, images and raw materials according to their wishes. Some spring orders alsocome from a number of companies that require large quantities to complete or repaisome of their machines. But it does not rule out the possibility, people often order perfor their needs even on a smaller scale. Often consumers order per size 2 mm with anamount of about 200 pcs even this, employees are required to do the work of turningusing a simple rotator repeatedly to produce per spring. This rotating activity if donecontinuously will cause problems in the hand muscles. Seeing some problems, especially in UD Spring Utama in the manufacturof springs, it is necessary to design and develop tools that will help manufacturingworkers per spring in meeting consumer needs by designing a per-twisting device witan automatic working mechanism. By collecting data in the form of operatorcomplaint interview data, component data that will be used for designing tools, pulsmeasurement data with workload, anthropometric data, order specification data andproduction time data. The results of the design are in the form of a twisting device with a lengtof 400 mm, width of 1200 mm and height of 810 mm. This twisting tool is able treduce the level of work fatigue which was originally 32.27 beats / minute to 8.31 beats per minute. From the results of data processing before design obtained standartime and standard output of 124.6 seconds / pcs and 29 units / hour or 232 units / dayWhile the standard time and standard output after design is 46.5 seconds / pcs and 77units / hour or 616 units / day.
