Abstract

Aluminum is a metal that has a light weight and has good corrosion resistance, aluminum also has good conductivity and heat. Composite is a new material consisting of two or more materials in which both materials have different nature, both mechanical and chemical nature. This study aims to analyze the effect of T6 heat treatment with temperature of 540c with temperature aging of 140oC, 160oC, 180oC and water cooling media, salt water and oil on aluminum alloy 6061 - iron powder with a percentage of 95% aluminum alloy and 5% iron powder alloy). On testing the 5% Al-Fe hardness with cooling media variations and aging temperature on T6 heat treatment obtained the highest avarage value of hardness in salt water cooling media with temperature aging 1400C that is 66,2 HRB and the lowest avarage value contained in the oil cooling media with temperature aging of 1800C that is 63 HRB, While the mean value of hardness before T6 was 62.8 HRB. so the T6 heating process affects the increase in hardness on Al-Fe and also cooling speed affects the hardness of Al-Fe. The highest tensile strength occurs in the oil cooling media with temperature aging of 1400c, the maximum value of tensile strenght is 11,35 kN and the lowest of tensile strength occurs in the oil cooling media with temperature aging of 1800C, he maximum value of tensile strenght is 1,03 kN.
