Abstract

MSB panel on a ship is the main electrical panel connecting the voltage source (generator) with the load. The MSB panel is equipped with several systems that function to facilitate operations and secure the performance of generators from electrical interference. Some of the systems contained in the MSB panel include interlock systems, parallel systems, protection systems, Black Out Recovery systems and Load Shedding systems. The systems refer to the Class Society regulatory standards used. The systems in MSB are generally controlled and controlled by conventional relays and contactors so that if there are a lot of systems installed on MSB it takes quite a place and makes the dimensions of the MSB panel itself become even greater. The use of PLCs in the shipping world is still rarely used because in the shipping world it is governed by strict regulatory standards and must have a due diligence certificate from the Class Society. All systems in the MSB panel were tested and witnessed by the Class Society and Owner Surveyor to determine the feasibility of the MSB panel.
