Abstract

This study is about lexical relations of the expression of fear the Stephanie S. Tolan’s Who’s There?. The study is to find out the types of the lexical relation and how they show cohesion in the text. The lexical relations of fear that are found are synonymy, antonymy, and hyponymy relation. The study is in the form of descriptive qualitative to describe types of lexical relation of fear that are found in the chapters. The study found sixty one (61) data which consists of thirty seven (37) hyponymy, four (4) synonymy, and twenty (20) antonymy. The result shows that the lexical relations that are analyzed show cohesion in the text because they relate to the topic of the novel that is “fear”. They are related in meaning as synonym, antonym, and hyponym of the expression of fear as the topic to build the unity of the text and make the text cohesive.
