Abstract

This research discusses slang words used by gamers on Mobile Legend Bang Bang online game. The purpose of this research is to find out the word classes and the meaning of slang used by gamers on Mobile Legend Bang Bang. This research used theory form Elizabeth Claire(1998) that state slang is a term that is used by people in a social situation where they feel comfortable with their friends. The research design in this study used descriptive qualitative to describe slang words that were found and give an example of the use of these slang words in a dialouge. The data of this research are slang words were taken from an online game called Mobile Legend Bang Bang published by Shanghai Moonton Technology and first released in 2016. In this study, the researcher found 57 slang words and divided into 30 nouns, 3 verbs, 14 adjectives, and 10 Abbreviations and use Oxford dictionary to help explain the data that has been found. The researcher draw conclusion that there is always a new slang used by gamers in Mobile Legend. Usually new slang will appear when there is a new season. Keyword: Slang, Mobile Legend, Word Class
