Abstract

This study aims to find out the relationship between social interaction and addiction social media of psychology college student 2020 generation in Untag Surabaya. The hypothesis in this study is “there is a negative relationship between social interaction and addiction social media of teenagers. The subjects of this study psychology college student 2020 generation in University of 17 Agustus 1945 area and was taken purposive sampling 97 people. Data retrieval is done by using 2 scales, namely the scale of social interaction that reveals knowing how they social interactions in real life and the scale of addiction social media reveals how long they using social media. Hypothesis testing conducted with the results of the resulting correlation coefficient showing rxy = -0.462 with a level of significance p = 0.000 (p <0.05), which indicates a significant negative relationship between social interaction and addiction social media, meaning that the higher social interaction, the more lower addiction social media too.
